Ok, so this video has been around for a while, but we’re not sure it got the attention it deserved.
Last year Dave Chappelle returned from the dead (not literally) and announced a series of stand-up shows. The shows were at the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York, and Chappelle organised a slew of iconic hip hop acts to support on each of the nights. These included the likes of The Roots, Nas, Talib Kweli and everyone’s favourite egomaniac, Kanye West.
In the build up to the shows, Dave Chappelle did the usual run of US talk shows, and proceeded to demonstrate that he is still as funny as ever, if not funnier than before. It was while he was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that he discussed how he managed to book such prestigious hip hop royalty to open for him, even though he had been out of the game for so long.
The story is pretty amazing, but the best part is undoubtedly when he starts recounting his first encounter with Kanye West, before the rapper was the powerhouse that he is now. Looks like the man has had an attitude, even from the early days.
Watch the funny man do his thing and…
