The central theme of Kendrick Lamar’s most recent album, To Pimp A Butterfly, is undoubtedly the plight of The African American in modern US society, packed with stories from his own Compton upbringing, as well as his internal narrative around recent events, including the death of Trayvon Martin and more.
His latest video for his fourth single from the album, “Alright,” was directed by Colin Tilley, and is his first music video that really pushes the point of his album. It also happens to be a visual masterpiece.
The video, true to the song, is packed with very strong imagery, but shows a resilient Kendrick Lamar remaining positive, upbeat and standing strong with is community.
