Diane Birch: Stand Under My Love

Diane Birch might not be a name that most South African’s recognise instantly, but make no mistake, the woman is a powerhouse.

Diane hails from The United States, but as a young girl moved between a few different countries, including South Africa, Zimbabwe and Australia. Her father was a preacher, whose work lead the family to move quite often.

Diane has a number of incredible achievements under her belt so far. She was noticed by none other than the man himself, Prince, while performing at The Polo Lounge in Beverly Hills, and he promptly invited her back to his house for a jam session with his band (a personal dream of mine).

After Diane signed to S-Curve Records, she released her debut album, Bible Belt, which received strong reviews from publications such as Rolling Stone and The Huffington Post. While touring the album she performed on The Late Show with David Letterman, Last Call with Carson Daly, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, to name a few. She was also Stevie Wonder’s opening act for his 2010 show in Hyde Park, London.

If those accolades don’t leave you impressed, then there is no hope.

Diane was recently in South Africa to perform at Littlegig 24h Festival in February, and we jumped at the opportunity to have her perform live in our studio.

Have a look at her performing a reworked version of her original song “Stand Under My Love” live in our studio!
